Kitchen Fire in a High-rise

Pittsburgh firefighters responded to a kitchen fire on the 3rd Floor of a High-rise building at 4400 Centre Ave. this evening. When fire crews reported there was a kitchen fire the Battalion Chief ordered a High-Rise Command to the scene along with a 2nd and 3rd alarm assignment as well as advising companies to lay into the standpipe.  At 21:52 crews had knocked down the fire, started ventilation and soon picked up. Companies on scene were 10 Engine, 6 Engine, 8 Engine, 18 Engine (Quint), 14 Truck, Battlaion Chief and Pittsburgh Police. Police blocked off the cross streets and secured the scene.
